Question 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Below are a series of screen grabs from our short film 'Fleeting', for this I have written about each shot of what it shows and why I have taken it.

Shot 1 - This shot shows the audience the production companies name and logo, which is normally shown at the beginning of most films both long and short, to let the audience know who is producing the film.

Shot 2 - This shot introduces the location to the audience as well as who our film is associated with which is useful if the audience need to know this.

Shot 3 - This shot portrays the main character to the audience because of the type of shot that we have shot, as it is a close up shot it shows the audience who the main character is due to the fact that all that focus is on him.

Shot 4 - This shot shows to the audience of the title 'Fleeting'. Normally most films have the title at the beginning of their film to again introduce the title to the audience, and we have also decided to do this.

Shot 5 - This shot introduces the audience to Carol, as she walks into the shot and joins Jonathan on the bench.

Shot 6 - In this shot, we see a close up of the apple of which plays an interesting part in our film. I feel this is an interesting shot because it was quite hard to catch this shot when the apple falls on the floor, which is why I had to get down low to catch the shot.

Shot 7 - This shot shows Jonathan taking a picture of the apple and it leaves the audience thinking to themselves of why he is taking a picture, I feel that this is good though because it leaves the audiences asking themselves the question and makes them want to watch on.

Shot 8 - We can see from this shot that it introduces the young child to the audience, it shows the awkwardness between both Jonathan and the child due to their body positions. We were aware as a group that this image can also show a sign of paedophilia.

Shot 9 - This next shot shows Jonathan taking a picture of a toy car which the boy had left behind, this shot also makes the audience think about the question of why is he doing this.

Shot 10 - This next shot shows Jonathan and a teenager sitting on the bench, it shows to the audience how their is tension between them due to their body language.

Shot 11 - We can clearly see from this shot, that it is set in a new location of which we have used an establishing shot on part of the back of Jonathan's body and the wall in front of him. We used additional lighting in this shot to give extra effect.

Shot 12 - From this shot, we can see that the location has been moved back outside and has introduced the art student to the audience. It is an angled shot over the Art student as Jonathan is speaking in this screen grab.

Shot 13 - As we can see from this shot, we can see that Jonathan is leaving the scene and the camera is beginning to rise, this is effective as it shows Jonathan leaving the shot as well as the unique image of the sky.

Shot 14 - This shot shows the audience that the location has clearly moved back inside,

Question 2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The second evaluation question was looking at two ancillary texts, of which these were my postcard and short film review page. I then had to evaluate how effective it was with Fleeting. I then decided to ask my audience on their thoughts on how my ancillary texts were effective of which I recorded with a Flip Video camera.

Postcard Feedback

Throughout the Pre-Production stage, I created postcard designs that I made to get feedback on so that it would help me decide on what final postcard design I wanted. After I got feedback on my designs and I had my chosen final design, I created it and then recorded my audience on their overall thoughts of my final postcard design.

I asked the following Questions:

- How effective do you think the front cover of my Postcard is & why?
- How effective do you think the back cover of my Postcard is & why?

After receiving the feedback, I realised that I had effective points about my postcard which was good to hear as it was positive. After receiving the feedback, I realised that I had effective points about my postcard which was good to hear as it was positive. I asked two classmates as I felt that as they have viewed my film in detail then they would have the knowledge to give me detailed feedback.

Both students were also given a preview of my postcard which enabled them to get a better understanding of what comments to give.

From receiving this feedback, I realised that there are parts that I could have improved and things that I could have included, however overall the designs were very positive and looked very professional.

Question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

After our production group had finished editing and producing ‘Fleeting’ which was our A2 short film, we then watched  all three videos and went away during a lesson to use a Flip Video Camera. We reviewed the two other production groups of whom produced Karma & Synchronicity and requested any  feedback they could give  on our film. We asked them a series of questions as listed below.

The following questions that we asked each group were the following:

- What did you perceive of the overall message of the film?

- Did you feel that there was a style to the film & if so what?

- What were the strengths & weaknesses of Fleeting?

- Could you give examples of where we could improve?

Below are both feedback videos from both groups of whom we interviewed:

Fleeting Feedback Video 3: Anton Richards

As we can see from these videos, the feedback given for Fleeting is reasonably positive with strong opinionated views on ways that we can improve,  if we were to repeat production and editing of this film again. All people interviewed gave similar answers to the questions asked, which was interesting for us as a group because we knew what we were trying to portray to the viewers.

With them giving similar answers, it said to us that whatever message we gave to the audience, it was one that was successfully shown due to the results that we received from the feedback.

Our production group also gave feedback to the other two production groups who were Karma & Synchronicity on their short films from the questions that we were asked by both groups individually.

Below are both Feedback videos that Fleeting gave to Karma & Sychronicity:

As you can see from this video mistakes were made throughout  however,  we continued recording to save battery power and time.
